What was the women’s jobs in the household?
The role of women’s job in the household according to the bible was to ‘encourage the young women to love their husbands, to love their children, to be sensible, pure, workers at home, kind, being subject to their own husbands, so that the word of God will not be dishonoured.’ (Titus 2:4-5)
Their role was in the household was also to get married , bear children and keep the house clean. Women were the manager of the home. They were under the oversight of her husband. (The wife is the manager of the home, but the husband is the manager of the wife.) The primary role of the women’s jobs in the household was revolved around the daily care of their children, meal preparation and keeping the house clean and in order.
The women were always free to take on additional roles and responsibilities by getting a job. Such a job is optional, whereas, for the husband, it is compulsory. The women's optional choice to take on a job did not suddenly obligate the husband to take on part of the wife's role of child care or keeping house.
What would happen if a women was to divorce or if she became a widow?
A woman that was to get a divorce would not able to go through with the task of her wish to get a divorce, because it was all in the man's hands to decide if he would like to get a divorce or if he would love to continue his journey with his wife. But many things changed over the years. Later on, women could get a divorce but it would only be followed through if she had an explainable reason to why she would like to end their marriage but she would also need evidence.
Women would be bound to their husband as long as he would live but if the beloved man, unfortunately, passed away the women would be free to remarry whoever she would like but only in the Lord. If the women’s husband died accordingly she will be called an adulteress, if she lives with another male while her husband is still alive. But if her husband dies she's free from that law and if she marries another man when her husband is dead she will no longer be called an adulteress.
How were boys raised differently to girls?
Boys were raised differently to girls by their parents raising their male children to grow up as being a leader and that all girls needed to show full respect to the male and the male in return would show love and affection towards the girl. The parents would raise the girl differently to the boys because the girls would be taught to cook at home and for their family, clean the house and clean everything up afterwards and do all house duties but also help the men.
